The development of space technology and its widespread use for civilian and military purposes are increasing the importance of space for the functioning of modern states, in terms of their security. This article addresses the management of satellite systems in Europe, which underpin the functioning and conduct of business by European economies. The widespread use of satellite services, the use of data and products in the daily lives of citizens, the progress of civilization, and the rising standard of living have led society to become dependent on daily access to technologies and services based on satellite resources. Economic functioning, production, trade in goods and services, and industrial development all rely on space resources. Naturally, the growing importance of space usage has led to an increase in potential threats, both natural and human-induced, stemming from the use of space and the development of anti-satellite (ASAT) capabilities. In this context, ensuring logistical security is a major challenge for all stakeholders interested in using space for various purposes, such as navigation, Earth observation, and communications. This applies to all critical services, from component production and supply, through ground infrastructure, to the maintenance and replacement of orbital components. Environmental protection is an important aspect of replacing worn orbital components. These activities should include the recycling of worn orbital components. In this process, attention should be paid to the issue of eco-logistics.
